What’s the difference between WordPress hosting and VPS hosting?
Our WordPress hosting is a shared environment — you split resource and license costs with other sites on the same server. For most WordPress sites this is a great fit. We use CloudLinux to put a virtual cage around each site, so you stay safely segregated from your neighbors.
If your site regularly uses a lot of resources, or needs custom server configuration, that’s where VPS hosting comes in. A VPS is dedicated CPU and RAM, custom-tuned, and you can request much higher resource limits than our shared plans allow.
Does your hosting come with a control panel?
Yes. Our WordPress plans include cPanel. Our VPS plans give you a choice between Interworx (a familiar cPanel-style admin with unlimited sub-accounts) or the Gridpane stack (no panel, pure WordPress-tuned LEMP).
Do you have servers in my country?
Our WordPress hosting plans run on servers based in the United States. VPS plans are configured per-customer, so we can host them in any country our hardware partners support — including most of Europe, Canada, the UK, Australia, Singapore, Japan, and India. Tell us where you need to be and we’ll let you know if we can put you there.
Do I need to transfer my domain to you?
No. We don’t require domain transfers. You just point your DNS records at our servers. If you’d like to consolidate your domain registration with us, we offer that too — but it’s never required.
Do you offer reseller hosting?
You can host multiple sites on our larger plans and on VPS, but we don’t officially support reseller hosting. You’re free to host sites for clients — you just have to support them yourself. Our support reaches the account owner only.
Can I run an e-commerce store on Iridium?
Absolutely. We’re big fans of WooCommerce. For anything beyond a small catalog we recommend a VPS plan, since cart and checkout pages can’t be cached the same way blog pages can — they’re CPU-bound and benefit from dedicated resources.
Do you offer “unlimited” space?
No. Any host who says they do is shading the truth — there’s always a limit, it’s just not on the marketing page. Ours are listed plainly for each plan, in GB and inodes, and our support team will give you a clear answer about what your site actually needs.
Can I have shell access?
SSH is available on every VPS plan. It’s not enabled on our shared WordPress hosting plans — we keep that environment locked down for everyone’s safety.
Can I have root access?
Root is available on VPS plans. It’s not available on shared WordPress hosting.
Can I use Cloudflare?
Yes — and we recommend it. Cloudflare adds a useful security layer and in most cases makes your site faster for visitors around the world. We’ll help you set it up correctly when we migrate, including the DNS hygiene that keeps your origin IP from leaking.
What web server do you use?
Our WordPress hosting plans run LiteSpeed — substantially faster than Apache for typical WordPress workloads. On VPS plans, you choose: Apache, NGINX, LiteSpeed, or Open LiteSpeed. LiteSpeed itself is paid-license, so on VPS it’s an add-on; the others are free.
How does migration work and is it really free?
It’s really free, and we really do it for you. Give us read-only access to your current host, we pull a staging copy onto Iridium, test it, send you a preview link, and only flip DNS once you’ve approved. Most sites are live within 24 hours and downtime is usually under a minute.
Are there any contracts?
No. Plans are month-to-month. Annual billing is available and saves you two months — but it’s optional, not the default. Cancel any time and we’ll provide a clean export of your site.
What about backups?
Encrypted off-site backups run nightly and are retained for 30 days, on every plan. You can restore from cPanel in a click, or open a ticket and we’ll do it for you.
